Veeta is a web designer and developer based in Wānaka, New Zealand, building websites with a handcrafted feel, merging a love of functional technology with raw and organic aesthetics.
My interest in digital spaces began as soon as I could click a mouse, which snowballed into self-teaching and experimenting with code early on.
Later in life I studied fashion design, interned at a crypto mining startup, then studied full-stack engineering. Fashion taught me to work with raw materials and understand texture, shape and composition. Software development taught me structure and logic. Crypto mining taught me absolutely nothing. Design and development, however, are threaded and coded through everything I make online, and I'm lucky enough to be able to call it my job.
In practice I design and build most projects myself. For larger work I assemble and lead a team who also work across both disciplines. Either way nothing gets lost between design and development, and one person stays accountable for how it looks and how it runs.
I work mostly in custom Shopify, Webflow and Squarespace, and in custom code when a platform won't do the job properly. Everything is built to be handed over: structured and documented so your team can run it day to day without coming back to me for every change.
Most of my clients are in lifestyle, fashion, food, beauty and architecture, where how something looks is part of the product.
